P.6T Shannaghmore-More 2018

DAY 1

We all arrived safely in Shannagh-More this morning. We got ourselves sorted in our bedrooms and after a fire drill we enjoyed a delicious lunch.  After lunch we all got our waterproof gear on for our first activity. All three groups headed on an adventure walk to Tollymore Forest Park. We all had a great time walking up streams, over and under branches and waterfalls.

After dinner we went to Murlough beach for starlight walk before stopping in the shop for some treats.  Children are now in their beds and we hope we all have a good night sleep.

DAY 2

Bouldering in Bloody Bridge

After breakfast two groups went to Bloody Bridge to do wet bouldering. We had great fun clambering over boulders and jumping in the water.  We were so impressed by how the children encouraged and supported each other. Lots of determination, splashing and getting wet was the order of the morning.

Climbing

Mrs Devlin's group enjoyed climbing on the low and high ropes course this morning (Thurs). Pupils had lots of fun climbing, trying out the different obstacles and challenges. They also enjoyed zipping along a zip line and going down the free fall. What brave amazing adventurous kids we have!

Scrambling up Pigeon Rock

Our afternoon activity for two groups today was scrambling. This was quite a challenging activity where pupils had to climb over rocks and scramble through crevices.  We were so impressed with how pupils showed real determination and enthusiasm. The damp air didn't dampen our spirits!

On Thursday evening, after yet another delicious dinner, we enjoyed playing a fun game together before filling out in our pyjamas to watch a movie for while. Before bed we had to organise our bags, tidy our rooms up in preparation for our final day at the centre.  It is safe to say that everyone settled to sleep more quickly tonight and were ready for a rest after a busy action packed day.

DAY 3

It was a busy start to our day, having to strip our beds, pack our cases and tidy our rooms - and this was all before breakfast!

Two groups climbed the low and high ropes courses for their final activity.  They also got to do the free fall and try out the zip line. For some, the high ropes course was a bit challenging but we are so proud of everyone of our pupils who gave their all, pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and set themselves a personal goal for what they personally could achieve. You were all brilliant!

Shannagh-More was a blast! Here a few short video clips so that you, our parents, can see what a valuable experience this was. We hope you have enjoyed sharing your child's journey through these photos and video clips.

What a fantastic experience we have all had together. We want to thank all of the leaders, canteen staff and centre staff for ensuring we had an amazing time together. Trying new things, setting personal challenges, developing independence, confidence, staying away from home and having lots of fun were our goals. Yes!!  We did it! P.6T were an absolute pleasure on this trip. We hope you all had a blast and will treasure very special memories of a trip that pupils and staff will never forget!
