Educating resilient, reflective, resourceful, respectful learners

P.6T Shannagh-More

Day 1

P.6T arrived at the centre full of excitement and ready for some fun! After meeting the leaders and getting ourselves settled in our bedrooms the pupils gathered up all the equipment needed for the activities ahead. After a tasty dinner of hotdogs and chips all three groups headed to Tollymore Forest Park for the first activity; the adventure walk. We all had a great time crawling through tunnels, under bridges and jumping in lots of muddy puddles. there were lots of challenges to try and the kids were amazing! It was lovely to hear them encouraging and supporting each other.

After a nice warm shower and some delicious dinner P.6T had the chance to try out the night line. This was quite challenging at times, as pupils were blindfolded and had to guide each other through the forest in the grounds of the centre with lots of obstacles in the way!  Afterwards we headed to the shops for some treats before supper, some chill out time and bed.

Day 2

The children all slept reasonably well on their first night and got their second day off to a good start with cereal and toast for breakfast.  It has been action-packed for all the groups today with lots of children trying new things and feeling really proud of their efforts when they tried some challenging activities. Mrs Turley's and Mrs Cairn's group went to Tollymore to learn some compass skills in the morning and after lunch both groups did both high and low climbing activities. We are so very proud of all the children who really pushed themselves and gave their all to these activities. It was great to see how resilient pupils were in being able to face, in some cases their fears, and push themselves out of their comfort zones to show how amazing they all are!

We played a fun game on our final evening and ensured we didn't miss out on anti-bullying week activities by sharing acts of kindness and having a compliments snowball shower to make everyone feel good about themselves. Soon after it was time to relax with a movie and some treats before bed.  Everyone settled in their rooms - cosy and ready for sleeping after an action packed day.

Day 3

Pupils had a busy start to their day - getting packed up and stripping their beds and all this before breakfast! Today we all did our final activities so Mrs Turley's and Mrs Cairn's group tried archery and orienteering while Mrs Devlin's group did the low and high ropes courses. After a delicious lunch we all head home on the bus - tired and satisfied they we had a great time, gave activities are all and enjoyed spending time with our friends.  Thank-you to all of the boys and girls - you were an absolute pleasure to be away with! Enjoy a rest over the weekend.
