P6T Trip to Shannagh-More 2016

A Group Photo on our Final Day

A huge thank-you to all the staff in Shannagh-More, especially the cleaning staff for keeping the centre so nice and clean, the kitchen staff for our delicious meals each day and our instructors; Michael, Val, Trevor and Eunan, who helped keep us safe and made our trip such a special and memorable one.

Photos to help capture precious memories of special times shared together, as a class.

Teambuilding, working together, supporting each other, adventures, fun...

Day 3

Everyone is up nice and early this morning, stripping their beds and packing their bags before heading to breakfast at 8.30am.  Mrs Turley's group headed to the low and high ropes courses this morning whilst Martin and Mrs Whan's groups canoed in Castlewellan for their final activity.

It has been amazing how all of the children have embraced all of the outdoor challenges and feel so proud of themselves.  For many who have stayed away from home for the first time, this has been a real confidence builder and they have felt a real sense of achievement.  We are so proud of everyone and hope that all the children has enjoyed their first team building trip away with their class.

It was an amazing, action packed and unforgettable week that we will remember and talk about the fun we had together for years to come! (:-)

Bus Journey Home

Some of us were exhausted after our action-packed three days.  We were sad to leave Shannagh-More but very excited to see our families again.

Mrs Turley's Group try out the low and high ropes courses

Everyone tried so hard and many overcame their fear of heights on the challenging high ropes course.  I am so proud of everyone in my group for how well they encouraged and supported each other.  Everyone approached this activity with determination and though a few didn't make it all the way around the high ropes they tried, with a few feeling more comfortable with the challenges on the low ropes course.  Well done!

Enjoying our last opportunity to have some free time

whilst enjoying the beautiful grounds in Shannagh-More

Day 2

Everyone slept reasonably well last night, with some falling asleep more quickly and easily than others.  After a hearty breakfast of cereal and toast Mrs Turley's and Mrs Martin's group headed to Pigeon in the beautiful Mourne mountains for a scrambling activity and Mrs Whan's group headed to Tollymore Forest Park on an adventure walk.  The two groups who went scrambling had to crawl through and around lots of big boulders and through small tunnels.  Everyone gave it their all and felt really proud of their achievements.

Mrs Martin's Group on the Adventure Walk

Mrs Martin's group enjoyed getting very muddy and trying out lots of challenges; crawling through tunnels, under bridges and even learning how to light a fire!  Lots of fun and adventure was had by all!

Mrs Whan's Group Head off for some adventure in Tollymore

Look at how brave and adventurous we all are!  We had an amazing time crawling through tunnels, in streams making a campfire and challenging ourselves to try new things.

Canoeing in Castlewellan Lake

Mrs Turley's group enjoyed a beautiful afternoon canoeing on Castlewellan lake.  It was a gorgeous day and the lake was lovely and calm.  Everyone had fun learning to paddle and played lots of fun games dipping body parts into the lake.  Martin even got his broken arm wrapped up in waterproof materials secured with duck tape so that he wouldn't miss out on any of the fun!

Mrs Whan's group enjoyed a scrambling adventure in the Mournes this afternoon

Day 2

This evening, after a delicious dinner of fish and fish we all played a fun racing game together.  Everyone participated, encouraged each other and we had lots of fun! After some hot chocolate, tea and toast we all retired to the main house, got pyjamas on before relaxing and watching a movie before bed.  Everyone slept more quickly and easily on their second night as everyone was exhausted!  Lots of fun enjoyed by all.

Enjoying Some Team Games on Our Final Night

Day 1

Thirty very excited children left Bridge this morning on their big adventure to Shannagh-More.  Everyone has arrived safely in Shannagh-More and after a lovely lunch of hotdog and chips got all their outdoor gear from the store.  Mrs Turley's group headed out on an adventure walk in Tollymore Forest Park for their first activity.  Martin, our budding photographer took lots of the great photos you can see below.  Everyone enjoyed trying out lots of different challenges and loved getting very muddy and wet.  Our team called themselves 'Team Cheeseburger' and they all earned their muddy stripes.  Mrs Whan and Mrs Martin's groups went climbing on the low ropes course and high ropes course. Everyone achieved something they were proud of and many did things that they never thought possible!

After a delicious dinner we headed out on our beach walk to Murlough Bay.  It was a lovely calm evening.  Mollie and Katie Mc were delighted to win the competition to find the roundest stone, with a little help from Mrs Martin!

Everyone in now in bed.
